UPDATED 1 August 2026

Welcome to the website of the Quintet Churches - the five churches found in the basin area of the River Quin in East Hertfordshire.

As August begins we are in Lammastide, where we celebrate the first fruits of the harvest. In reality, this year the hot weather means the harvest is almost over. As it happens, we have already planned our Harvest Festival services to be earlier than has been our tradition. Look out for details of those services in August and September.

We are still in the part of the church year called 'Ordinary Time' where we follow the 'order' of services and paterns of readings set out for the rest of the (liturgical) church year between Trinity Sunday and the feast of Christ the King. For this season our Church vestments are usually green. As the natural world moves in time from springtime to harvest, it is helpful to think of this as being a season of spiritual growth. We develop our discipleship and strive to increase in fruitfulness as individuals and as Christian communities.

We invite anyone and everyone to join us, even if you are just curious. From tiny seeds, amazing trees can grow.

Please Note: Revd James Sawyer is away from his normal duties on extended study leave in September, October and November. For pastoral enquiries please, in the first instance, contact Patricia Hamilton. While he is away on pilgrimage, following the missionary journeys of St Paul, services will be covered by visiting clergy and the ministry team.

Services on Sunday 2nd August:

Ninth Sunday after Trinity

The Quintet Churches are a group of five Anglican churches who work together and meet for worship in the beautiful Hertfordshire countryside in the Diocese of St Albans. We are located just east of the market town of Buntingford around the basin of the River Quin and are part of the Buntingford Deanery.

Together we seek to serve our communities, worship God and live His values of love, peace and justice.

Christian have worshiped and ministered in this area for over 1,000 years. So it is our privilege to be the latest generation to continue the story of the body of Christ in our villages.
